Freesat Recordable 4K Set Top Box Set up and review of the new Arris Freesat box

Freesat – Subscription Free UK TV

In February 2020, Freesat launched a new 4K / UHD satellite receiver, manufactured by Arris. This is the “non recording” version, with a recording version, with 500gb, 1tb and 2tb hard drives, to be released “later”.

Apart from 4K support for Netflix and Youtube, the box does seem a bit pricey compared to its predecessor manufactured by Humax. And perhaps, if you have the previous Humax Freesat HD box, then upgrading to this box may feel unnecessary.

A few issues i found:
– My remote is not very responsive. Press a button on it, and there is a 4 second pause before you can press another button to the receiver to respond.

– the “Z” is not printed on any button on my remote control…!

– if you have “fat thumbs”, then when you press the OK button, you may also press the UP or DOWN button on the remote
– this receiver found 8 less TV channels than a Humax Freesat HD1100S receiver on the same connection…
